The simplest answer to this question is: as fast as you can move air in and out of the air spring. Generally, the limiting factor of cycle time will be the size of the valve and/or air inlet. The bead plate versions of our air springs are available with a 1/4” NPT and 3/4” NPT. If a 3/4” NPT will not allow for fast enough flow of air, we recommend using a bead ring version. An air spring with a bead ring allows a customer to attach their own mounting plate to the air spring. Since the customer is providing their own mounting plate, an much larger air inlet can be used allowing for faster movement of air.

MarshMellow springs are built as a long stick which is then cut into smaller lengths. One piece out of each stick is sent to our test lab to verify the performance of the entire stick. Because the test piece has been previously loaded, it will have taken a slight compression set. Once the MarshMellows are installed and loaded, they will all compress to the proper height regardless of any previous loading.

Yes, we provide a rebuild program for AirPickers and AirGrippers. The rebuild process takes 4-6 weeks, so we do recommend having a spare set on hand. Please contact your local distributor or Firestone for additional details on this program.

While you can use a bumper (when available as a option) to act as a down stop in case of air loss, we do not recommend it. The amount of air volume in the spring effects its performance as an isolator. Using an internal bumper takes away air volume which will decrease the percent isolation that can be attained with any given spring.

For the P014 thru the P055, we have protective sleeves available. These sleeves protect the rubber bladder from abrasive surfaces. The sleeve is placed over the bladder and acts as sacrificial material which wears away rather than the bladder material. Use of a sleeve will increase the diameter of the AirPicker as well as restrict its inflated diameter. For the P010 thru the P055, we have nose cones available. The nose cones protect the bladder from abrasion during insertion into the work piece by providing a leading edge.
